History of our practice

PB Irwin & Associates was founded by Philip Irwin in 1974. Philip had been a company secretary with Mathers and decided to begin his own business from his family home. In 1979 the practice moved out of his home into premises at West Ashgrove.

He was soon joined by his son Mark. Philip and Mark formed a partnership in 1987.

In 1988 the practice moved again, to The Gap Village Shopping Centre.

Rapid growth forced yet another move and the current premises in Glenaffric Street, The Gap were constructed. The firm moved here in September 1994.

In mid 1997 the practice of Leo Wells & Co at Ferny Hills was acquired. For two years the offices at The Gap and Ferny Hills co-existed. In 1999 the Ferny Hills office was closed and all clients and staff were transferred across to The Gap.

With Philip’s retirement, Bert Girle joined the firm as a director in 2001.

2002 saw further expansion. The practice of Caseys’ Consulting at Labrador on the Gold Coast was acquired in April. In July, long term employee Russell Maddock became a director.

In 2004 the practice of TS Accountants at Chirn Park on the Gold Coast was purchased. TS Accountants was merged with Caseys’ Consulting and the new combined practice continues to operate from our premises at Labrador Park Shopping Centre.

Today, between our two offices, we have built up a practice with a spread of clients covering not only south east Queensland but throughout Australia and overseas.
